This past year for Father's Day my wife got me a stand-up paddle board, or a SUP for short. I've always been quite the indoors-man but this year I wanted to change things up. SUPing as they call it, (which is also the same term used to describe greeting our drug dealer), is a cool feeling, like walking on water.
You really do basically feel like Jesus just with a lot more apparatus. In fact, I think we have to accept that it is possible that when Jesus "walked on water" he was in actuality riding a water colored stand up paddle board.
I am in Phoenix, AZ this week doing stand-up shows at the House of Comedy and it appears I have arrived during the hot season which runs from early July to early July each year. When I tell people how hot it is (106 degrees yesterday) they always say "Oh you should have been here last week ,this is a cold spell." And all I can extract from this is that these people don't like me and wish I had been here during pre-heat oven weather.
It's so hot when you leave your coffee in the car and go into a store, when you come out it's actually warmer. It's so hot I saw a lizard with one of those small hand-held fans. Although that might have been a vision I had as I was very delirious at the time. Yesterday someone told me "it's so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk." Ok, I believe you but think you are better off just using your stovetop and a non-stick pan. Eggs are expensive these days. Chickens have never had it better. Most of the chickens at Whole Foods had a better upbringing then I did.
I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and discovered you can't actually trade anything there. I offered one of the employees a trade of my shirt for his Hawaiian Trader Joe's employee shirt. He looked at me with disdain not even realizing that I was going to do him a favor and destroy it.
Well I'm headed to NYC on Monday to shoot a pilot/sizzle real thing for a production company that finds my humor acceptable for such a thing . I'm excited and will post some pics and updates as we will be traveling to some cool spots in and around NYC.
Godspeed (which I think must be very fast!)
